Rest in Peace, Leonard Nimoy

“Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.”

Since I was a child, Star Trek featured prominently in my house. My parents were (or at least acted) thrilled when I was finally able to separate my fingers to form the Vulcan Salute—Spock’s iconic hand symbol. When I heard that Leonard Nimoy passed away, I joined the legions of nerds mourning the man and the character that I have looked up to my entire life.

I thought long and hard about what I wanted to post about Spock’s passing, and ultimately I decided to keep it short. The quote that appears in italics above will always be my favorite Spock quote. As a workers’ rights attorney, I spend a fair amount of my time contemplating the fact that “the few” have used their incredible wealth to buy our government and impose their will upon the masses. Here at E&B we believe, without hesitation, that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. It is that sentiment, that logic, which guides our work in representing labor organizations and working men and women.

Rest in Peace, Leonard Nimoy. And the rest of you, live long and prosper.
